The actual percentage, Full Fact shows, was around 61% of the entire population. 70.8% of “the population aged 12 and over” were vaccinated within the first 6 months.

Several countries had vaccinated a higher share of their populations within six months, including Canada (a large country with accurate population estimates so comparable), Malta, Bahrain, Seychelles, the UAE and San Marino. 

Verdict

Yet another false and nonsensical statement in Johnson’s farewell address. 70% of the entire population had not received a dose of the vaccine within six months, nor was Britain faster in this regard than any comparable country.

We emailed Boris Johnson's office offering him the chance to respond. The email was received, but no reply.
