In a radio interview on BBC Radio Scotland, John Beattie asked Ian Backford if he and Boris Johnson did work well behind the scenes. His response was “no”.

Verdict

It is impossible to prove that Boris Johnson was not being dishonest. He may have been under the genuine impression that he and Ian Blackford cooperated well “behind the scenes.” This impression was not shared by Mr Blackford. 

We approached Mr Johnson’s office, the Cabinet Office and the No 10 Press Office to give him a chance to comment, but received no response.
