John Nicolson at a select committee hearing how many consultation respondents supported the privatisation of Channel 4. 

At a select committee hearing, John Nicolson asked Ms Dorries about support for the privatisation of Channel 4. He said: “There were 56,293 responses when you asked people about privatisation. What percentage of those 56,293 supported privatisation?” 

Ms Dorries responded: “I think the figure was about 96 percent.” 

This is the number of people who opposed the privatisation. 

Verdict 

Ms Dorries was 92% wrong.  

We approached Nadine Dorries' office and the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport to give her a chance to comment, but received no response.
