The Home Secretary when responding to the question, “What would you do if your neighbour was having a party?” said “If there was a party taking place it would be right to call the police”.

Verdict

Home Secretary Priti Patel is responsible for law and order. She rightly encouraged people to report lockdown breaches to the police. We now know the same strictures did not apply to the Prime Minister and fellow ministers. The Home Secretary was not lying - indeed she was being straightforward -  but her government was applying double standards. 

We approached Priti Patel’s office and the Home Office to give her a chance to comment but received no response.
