International trade minister Greg Hands had been asked by Sky News why Kwarteng was flying back from the IMF a day early.  Kwarteng was sacked shortly afterwards.

Verdict

If Greg Hands was suggesting that Kwarteng’s sudden return from the IMF conference to London was a normal event he was being disingenuous. In fairness he was in an impossible position, having been thrown a hospital pass when asked to tour TV studios that day.

We emailed Greg Hands’ office offering him the chance to respond. The email was received, but no reply.
