Steve Barclay was asked by Kay Burley: “Does he [Johnson] tell lies. He replied “No he doesn’t.” Burley then said that “He’s been sacked twice for lying.” Burley replied: “You asked my opinion.”

Verdict

We accept that Downing Street chief of staff Steve Barclay was expressing his  opinion. He was nevertheless misleading Sky TV viewers. 

We emailed Steve Barclay’s office offering him the chance to respond. The email was received, but no reply.
