Rees-Mogg told Sky News “our pension funds aren’t at risk”, but added “some pension funds have taken some high-risk investments”

The Bank of England had just made a highly unusual intervention in the financial markets to save British pension funds from collapse. 

Verdict

The Bank of England would not have intervened had pension funds not been at risk.

We emailed Mr Rees-Mogg’s office offering him the chance to respond. The email was received, but no reply.
