Boris Johnson told the House of Commons  that there would be “free hospital car parking for everybody who attends a hospital.”

However, government guidance shows that this free parking is not universal. Free parking is limited to certain groups, such as staff working night shifts or “outpatients who attend hospital for an appointment at least 3 times within a month and for an overall period of at least 3 months.”

Verdict

Boris Johnson’s claim that “everybody who attends a hospital” would get free parking was misleading. His full statement remains on the Commons record in defiance of the Ministerial Code.
