Conservative MP Laura Trott said “We’re up to 500,000 tests a day”. 

While labs had a maximum capacity for 519,770 tests on the day of Laura Trott's claim, the actual number of tests processed was only 270,473, as BBC Reality Check quickly established.

Verdict

Laura Trott’s claim was misleading. It was the latest in a series of misleading statements made by Tory MPs and ministers about Covid testing.
