In her leadership campaign, Liz Truss called workers striking for higher wages “militant.” Real wages are falling at a record rate due to inflation. Real wages take into account of inflation whereas nominal wages do not. 

Verdict

Liz Truss may as she said have been determined to “have an economy with high wages” but her policies did little or nothing to advance them. Ministers notoriously prefer to use nominal rather than real terms figures in order to make the numbers look better. Here is another example.
