Liz Truss, a front-runner to become the new Prime Minister, claimed in response to claims that she models herself on Margaret Thatcher, that this was not true. 

Truss has modelled herself in the past as a Thatcher-type figure. This includes a December 2021 Times article which styled Truss as the ‘new Iron Lady’ and included photos of Truss made up to look like Thatcher. Truss wore a nearly-identical outfits to Thatcher in the Channel 4 Leadership debate. Pictures from her trip to Estonia in November 2021 look similar to a famous photo of Thatcher riding in a tank. 

Verdict

Truss has been styled as a new ‘Iron Lady’ and has worn near-identical outfits or taken photographs in near-identical situations. Truss, in these situations, has copied the distinctive style of Thatcher.
