During Sunak's leadership campaign he made it clear that the government needed to "restore" trust. 

On becoming Prime Minister Sunak brought back Suella Braverman as Home Secretary just days after she was forced to resign from the same post over a serious security breach. He also appointed Sir Gavin Williamson, who had helped his bid for the leadership, to the cabinet despite grave questions surrounding Williamson’s character and conduct. As this website documents, since becoming Prime Minister Sunak has carried on Boris Johnson's practice of making false and fabricated remarks.

Verdict

Once Sunak entered 10 Downing Street he made no obvious  effort to rebuild the trust which he acknowledged had been broken. On the contrary, his choice of cabinet ministers and lack of integrity further damaged trust. 

We emailed Rishi Sunak’s office and Downing Street offering them the chance to respond. The email was received, but no reply. 

Additional Note This was a noteworthy remark for two reasons. First, it showed that Rishi Sunak acknowledged that trust had been broken under the Johnson government in which he had served from the start and almost to the end. Second, when Rishi Sunak did become Prime Minister he made no attempt to restore trust. On the contrary, he  carried on Boris Johnson's practice of making false and fabricated remarks, including in the House of Commons, and brought back cabinet ministers such as  Suella Braverman and Sir Gavin Williamson who had significant question remarks surrounding their integrity.
