A Tory Party message to supporters featured a large poster of the RMT leader Mick Lynch, showing a diminutive Keir Starmer in his top pocket. It reads: "Labour voted for the union paymasters. We know who's really running the show." However RMT is not affiliated to Labour, and has not been for more than a decade.

Verdict

The Conservative Party was misleading voters. RMT is not affiliated to Labour. To claim that “we know who's really running the show" was an especially brash  move given the Tory Party’s heavy dependance on wealthy donors such as hedge fund managers and property developers.

We emailed the Conservative Party offering them the chance to respond. As of writing we are yet to hear a response.
