During an interview on Sky News, Energy Secretary Grant Shapps stated that “there’s never been a Labour government that hasn’t left unemployment higher in history”

Between January and November 1924, when Labour was in office for the first time with Ramsay Macdonald as Prime Minister, unemployment fell by around one percentage point, from 11.9% to 10.8%.

Another falsehood from Grant Shapps.

We emailed Grant Shapps’ parliamentary office offering him the chance to respond. The email was received, but no reply. 

Additional Note Since making the above remark Grant Shapps has been promoted to Defence Secretary.
