Facts
Referencing the global energy crisis, the former Prime Minister Boris Johnson, told world leaders that now is “not the moment to go weak on net-zero” at the Cop27 climate summit in Egypt.
Boris Johnson's final acts as PM included:
Backing major new oil and gas drill sites.
Rowing back from onshore wind.
Refusing to oppose the first new coal mine in decades.
Scrapping re-wilding projects.
Verdict
Johnson was in no position to urge world leaders not "to go weak" on net-zero. This was hypocrisy on the most urgent issue of our time.
We emailed Boris Johnson’s office offering him the chance to respond. The email was received, but no reply.
